Нина Косман — Артикуляция

Родилась в Москве. Эмигрировала из Советского Союза с семьёй в 1972 году. Жила год в Израиле; в Америке с 1973 года. Окончила школу в Нью-Йорке и Беннингтонский колледж в Вермонтe. Поэт, прозаик, драматург, художник, переводчик. Сборник рассказов, опубликованный в Нью-Йорке на английском, был издан в Токио на японском. Публикации на русском в журналах «Знамя», «Новый берег», «Волга», «Дети Ра», «Крещатик», «Homo Legens» , «Новый журнал», «Среда», «Слово/Word», «Двоеточие» и т.д.. Английские стихи, проза /переводы публиковались в США, Канаде, Испании, Голландии и Японии. Получила UNESCO/PEN Short Story Award в Лондоне за прозу на английском; NEA (National Endowment for the Arts fellowship) в 1999 за переводы стихов Марины Цветаевой. Написанные на английском пьесы ставились в театрах Нью-Йорка и Лондона. Составитель антологии «Gods and Mortals» (Oxford University Press, 2001). В амер. издательствах были изданы две книги переводов стихов Марины Цветаевой. Изданы два сборника русских стихов («Перебои», Москва, 1990; «По правую руку сна», Филадельфия, 1998). Готовятся к изданию две книги – роман «Царица иудейская» ( перевод с английского; издательство Рипол Классик) и сборник рассказов на английском и на русском (издательство Laurus). Живет в Нью-Йорке.

Nina Kossman is a bilingual writer, poet, painter, sculptor, and playwright. Born in Moscow, she emigrated from the Soviet Union in 1972. She is the author of two bilingual books of poems as well as the translator of two volumes of Marina Tsvetaeva’s poems, In the Inmost Hour of the Soul and Poem of the End. Her books include Behind the Border (HarperCollins,1994), a collection of stories about her Moscow childhood; Gods and Mortals: Modern Poems on Classical Myths (Oxford University Press, 2001); Pereboi, a collection of Russian poems published in Moscow; a bilingual edition of her poems published in the US, a collection of short stories about her teaching, and a novel. Her translations of Russian poetry have been anthologized in Twentieth Century Russian Poetry (Doubleday, 1993), The Gospels in Our Image (Harcourt Brace, 1995), The World Treasury of Poetry (Norton, 1998), and Divine Inspiration (Oxford University Press, 1998). Her Russian short stories and poems have been published in Russian literary magazines in and outside of Russia. Her English poems and short stories have been published in a wide spectrum of American, British, and Canadian literary magazines, e.g. Tin House, The Columbia Journal, The Threepenny Review, Michigan Quarterly Review, Columbia, Confrontation, etc., and have been translated into several languages, including Japanese, Dutch, and Greek. Two of her plays have been produced off-off Broadway; one of her one-act plays has been included in “Best Women Playwrights” series. “Other Shepherds”, a new book of her English poems and her Tsvetaeva translations is forthcoming this summer from Poets & Traitors Press (New York). She received a UNESCO/PEN Short Story Award, an NEA translation fellowship, and grants from Foundation for Hellenic Culture, the Onassis Public Benefit Foundation, and Fundacion Valparaiso. She lives in New York.
