Henri Volohonsky

Henri Volohonsky (1936, Leningrad — 2017, Horb am Neckar, Germany) was a poet, playwright, philosopher and translator who continued and developed the traditions of Russian avant-garde writing. Educated as a chemist and biologist, he worked professionally in chemistry and marine ecology, participated in marine expeditions, spent several years at Russian North. He co-authored over a hundred songs and several plays with A. Khvostenko under the collective pen name A.H.V. In 1973 Volohonsky emigrated to Israel where he worked as a biochemist. In 1985 he moved to Germany and worked as a translator at Radio Liberty.
